Basil is great in savory AND sweet combinations. It pairs particularly well with berries. Sebastian, a member of the Avalow team, loves throwing basil in his daily smoothies. This super smoothie is a great filling snack to fuel you for work outs, busy mornings, or when you just don't have time to cook!
Yields 4 servings
2 c. Mixed Frozen (or fresh!) Berries (we used strawberries and blackberries)
1/2 c. Fresh Blueberries
Basil (three dozen leaves)
4 Ripe Bananas
2-3 tbsps Almond Butter
1-2oz inches of fresh ginger (to taste, ginger is strong!)
1 cup of ice
1 cup of Almond Milk
Add water during blending until preferred consistency
Combine all ingredient and puree in blender until completely smooth. Pour into glasses and garnish with a berry and a sprig of basil. Enjoy!
