In the tradition of Luther Burbank, whose showcase home is nearby, Avalow is putting down roots in the historic South A arts district, and bringing innovation to home gardens. The emerging food gardening company will be taking over the beloved Cook House property.
“We are so excited to be bringing our company, born in Healdsburg, to the public in the middle of dynamic urban development in this wonderful community,” says Amanda Dunker, Avalow CEO.
Avalow offers their Concierge Garden Service, featuring proprietary raised beds, for a simple monthly fee. The raised beds are built on optimized sub-irrigation technology and utilize custom finishes and quick, modular connection points for vertical growing and frost protection. The service starts with stress-free installation which takes less than 45 minutes per bed from delivery to fully-planted. The Avalow growing team optimizes garden output and aesthetics with regularly scheduled weekly visits. Avalow clients get a farmers’ market experience in their own yard; the flavor and health benefits of fresh produce with even less impact on the environment.
“We have been working to marry a passion for homegrown fresh food with modern technological thinking and busy productive lives,” says Jeremy Nusser, COO of Avalow, “our patent-pending raised beds are designed to be easier to maintain while growing more abundantly. We will continue to develop technology and bring science to home gardening.”
327 South A Street will become the headquarters for the expanding company and will feature a showcase for Avalow’s raised beds, bringing a touch of fresh greenery to the neighborhood. Visitors will be welcomed to garden tours and to finding inspiration and education from the outdoor displays. Regular classes and events will help spread information about the science and benefits of growing food.
